What to change
The submitted inventory should describe the intended content destinations rather than historic entry points. Ask the supplier to compare the listed address, its public response and the approved final page for a sample of moved guides. Correct the source inventory so the fix survives regeneration. Keep old redirects where visitors still need them, but do not count those entry routes as additional useful articles in the publication total.
A worked example
Illustrative example
Illustrative test: Compare a moved guide's sitemap entry with its canonical destination. Include one unchanged guide as a control to confirm the correction does not remove valid entries.
How to check the result
The sitemap directly lists the intended public content routes.
A mistake to avoid
Counting every listed URL as a separate article overstates the library.
Your action checklist
Use these checks to prepare a discussion with your team or supplier. Tick a check when you have recorded the decision or evidence, rather than when a feature has simply been promised.
