What to change
A link can return a healthy page while failing to deliver its promised section. Ask the content supplier to compare the fragment part of the incoming link with actual section identifiers on the destination. For important shared references, retain a compatibility target where sensible. The acceptance record should name the intended section and show where the browser lands, rather than simply report that the page exists.
A worked example
Illustrative example
Illustrative test: Open a related section link from another article in a fresh browser tab.
How to check the result
The reader lands at the intended section rather than the top of the page.
A mistake to avoid
A successful HTTP response does not validate an in-page target.
Your action checklist
Use these checks to prepare a discussion with your team or supplier. Tick a check when you have recorded the decision or evidence, rather than when a feature has simply been promised.
