Keep preference controls usable inside a cookie panel

A preference panel may expand categories beyond the visible area or fail to expose which switches are on. Visitors cannot confidently inspect or change the available settings.

What to change

Ask the supplier to test the panel as an interactive form, including its expanded sections and save action.

A worked example

Illustrative example

A visitor changes an optional preference, saves it and later reopens the panel to find the same selection clearly represented.

How to check the result

Accept when the interface accurately displays and applies its controls, with predictable focus and an accessible route back to the page.

A mistake to avoid

A polished first banner does not establish that the more complex preferences panel works once its detailed controls are opened.

Your action checklist

Use these checks to prepare a discussion with your team or supplier. Tick a check when you have recorded the decision or evidence, rather than when a feature has simply been promised.
