Explain how to change only one appointment in a series

A patient has several booked visits but the change form asks only for their name. Reception cannot tell which appointment they want to move, and the patient worries the whole series will change.

What to change

Ask for the specific appointment details through the approved route and explain the scope of the request. Keep the other booked visits clearly outside that instruction unless the patient asks otherwise.

A worked example

Illustrative example

A patient wants to move the second of three visits. The page asks them to identify that booking and reception confirms the revised visit separately from the others.

How to check the result

Both the patient and team can distinguish the intended appointment without relying on phrases such as my next one.

A mistake to avoid

Do not assume that a change to one visit automatically authorises changes to every related reservation.

Your action checklist

Use these checks to prepare a discussion with your team or supplier. Tick a check when you have recorded the decision or evidence, rather than when a feature has simply been promised.
