Keep floating controls out of printed page content

Sticky headers, cookie panels and assistance buttons can appear on every printed sheet or cover body text. A usable screen page becomes a fragmented or obscured paper copy.

What to change

Ask for a print layout that preserves the main information while excluding interactive overlays that have no purpose on paper.

A worked example

Illustrative example

A location page prints its address and directions without a floating Book button covering the final lines on each sheet.

How to check the result

Accept when the printout contains the intended information in a readable order without overlapping controls or unexplained blank pages.

A mistake to avoid

Testing only a short first page can miss repeated fixed elements that obscure content on later printed sheets.

Your action checklist

Use these checks to prepare a discussion with your team or supplier. Tick a check when you have recorded the decision or evidence, rather than when a feature has simply been promised.
