Keep the active field visible above the phone keyboard

Opening a phone keyboard can cover the field being edited or the instruction explaining it. Visitors type without seeing the result and may not know how to continue.

What to change

Ask the supplier to test the form with the real on-screen keyboard open, including fields near the bottom of panels.

A worked example

Illustrative example

A visitor enters a message near the bottom of a contact panel while the field's current line remains visible above the keyboard.

How to check the result

Accept when typing, correction and progression work with the keyboard present and dismissing it is not required after every character.

A mistake to avoid

A desktop mobile preview without an actual virtual keyboard cannot establish whether the editing area stays visible.

Your action checklist

Use these checks to prepare a discussion with your team or supplier. Tick a check when you have recorded the decision or evidence, rather than when a feature has simply been promised.
