What to change
Repeated reorganisations can leave a trail of addresses that no longer serve a purpose. Ask the supplier to list the full chain and confirm whether any intermediate stop is intentionally meaningful. Where it is not, point the earliest owned entry directly to the approved destination. Keep the mapping record so another supplier can understand the change, and test a historical bookmark rather than only the newest link.
A worked example
Illustrative example
Illustrative test: Test an original bookmark after two successive website reorganisations.
How to check the result
The bookmark reaches the current equivalent without redundant intermediate redirects.
A mistake to avoid
Do not delete history blindly when an intermediate destination still serves a real purpose.
Your action checklist
Use these checks to prepare a discussion with your team or supplier. Tick a check when you have recorded the decision or evidence, rather than when a feature has simply been promised.
