Explain assessment appointments before offering treatment

A visitor reads about a treatment and assumes the first appointment includes it. The booking system actually offers an assessment, so the two descriptions set different expectations.

What to change

Describe the purpose of the first visit separately from any later service. Ask the responsible practitioner to approve the boundary without adding advice about suitability.

A worked example

Illustrative example

A podiatry page describes an initial assessment, its duration and fee. The next paragraph explains that any further appointment is discussed separately; it does not promise a procedure at that visit.

How to check the result

A first-time reader can tell what is booked and which decisions remain for the practitioner.

A mistake to avoid

Do not describe a possible next step as an included service simply because many patients eventually choose it.

Your action checklist

Use these checks to prepare a discussion with your team or supplier. Tick a check when you have recorded the decision or evidence, rather than when a feature has simply been promised.
