Close mobile navigation after a destination is chosen

A menu overlay can remain open after a page or section link is activated. Visitors arrive at the destination but still see the navigation covering it.

What to change

Require a completed navigation action to leave the visitor with the destination visible and a sensible focus position.

A worked example

Illustrative example

Selecting Contact from the mobile menu reveals the contact section and restores ordinary page scrolling. The visitor can immediately continue toward the contact options.

How to check the result

Accept when all supported menu destinations complete navigation cleanly and no invisible layer blocks the resulting page.

A mistake to avoid

Removing the visible panel without removing its transparent backdrop can leave a page that looks usable but ignores taps.

Your action checklist

Use these checks to prepare a discussion with your team or supplier. Tick a check when you have recorded the decision or evidence, rather than when a feature has simply been promised.
